Design for Sheet Metal
Every quote starts with a manufacturability review. Before the laser fires, our engineers check your design against what a press brake can actually do — and flag the details that make or break a formed part.
An inside radius around 1× material thickness forms cleanly and stress-free; tighter radii may crack on harder grades like 304 or 5052-H32.
Holes closer than about 2× thickness from a bend edge distort during forming — we move or resize them so they stay in spec.
Correct relief notches stop tearing at flanged corners and keep bend lines straight and square.
Fewer gauge changes across a part means tighter nesting, less scrap and a lower per-piece price.

What materials can Hanstar fabricate in sheet metal?
Cold-rolled and galvanized steel, stainless steel (304 / 316 / 430), and aluminum (5052 / 6061 / 6063) across common gauges.Material and thickness can be recommeded based on your part requirements.
What tolerances can you hold on fabricated parts?
Our standard tolerance for formed dimensions is typically ±0.1 mm, depending on the material, part geometry and forming process. Tighter tolerances can be discussed for critical features.
What is your typical lead time? Can you handle rush orders?
Typical lead time is 2–4 weeks depending on part complexity and quantity. Rush orders can be accommodated on request — please let us know your required schedule when requesting a quote.
How do you control weld quality?
Welding is performed by qualified welders, using controlled welding processes and parameters. Welded assemblies are checked for fit-up, distortion, weld appearance and overall dimensional conformity before shipment.
What file formats do you accept for drawings?
STEP, IGES, DXF, DWG and PDF. A flattened sheet-metal file (DXF) speeds up quoting.
Do you offer finishing, hardware and assembly?
Yes. Powder coating, zinc plating, anodizing, brushing, silkscreen printing, plus hardware insertion and full assembly.
What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
There is no MOQ for prototypes and low-volume orders. For production runs, MOQ may vary depending on material, thickness, finishing and production requirements, and will be confirmed during quoting.
Can you handle both prototyping and volume production?
Yes. We support both prototypes and production batches, with processes including laser cutting, bending, welding, finishing and inspection. Production processes are adjusted to suit the required volume, part complexity and quality requirements.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, worldwide. Common terms include EXW, FOB, CIF and DAP depending on your requirements.
